The FAST Awards are an annual event that celebrate the advancement of women and marginalized groups who are in the early stages of their cybersecurity and technology careers. To honour their recipients, a trophy, certificate, and prizes are administered courtesy of the Women CyberSecurity Society and its sponsors.
Recognizing and celebrating the achievements of women is critically important to the advancement and retention of marginalized groups across technological industries. Women are underrepresented in information, communications and technology (ICT) and this inclusive award designed for newbies will encourage further diversification and support throughout the industry.
According to CyberSecurity Ventures, by 2022 (next year) there will be 3.5 million jobs available in cyber security globally, but not enough trained to take them. Women currently make up only11% of that workforce.
